san's name before he takes up his appointsent, together

with sense desaription of his previous services and quaë

having this office established in the Colony. Our obli-

gations, such as they are, to let it remain there under

the agreement of 1884, and the prog and guns of closing

it in disregard of that agreement, have, I think, bean

not want to close the office if we dan help it and that

your Government wishes to reusin on good terme with Han- ing. I do hope that you will bear in mind the part that
